The club was originally formed in the memory of Colin Hooker a great man who loved cycling. Sadly, Colin was struck down by cancer some years ago, but we continue to ride the 75 mile ride called appropriately the "Hooker" in his honour every year. We are also affiliated to British Cycling, which gives the club and its members added benefits.
We are a "no-drop" club, which means that we won't leave you behind. There is a ride leader on every ride and we stop at regular intervals to re-group, this enables the faster riders to get some good pace and the slower riders to catch up. Our club is equally about the riding as the social, we support each other and try and help riders get the best out of their ride.
There is a growing group of active competitive lady riders who are out most weekends and some during the week. The vice-chair, Bex Seeley Harris, represents womens' interests on the committee and is happy to answer any questions you have. We are keen to encourage lady riders of all ages as we think it is a great sport!
We have a Facebook Group which we use to communicate rides, advice and general chat and it is in active use everyday. The Facebook Group is for members only, but you can apply to join when you are a member.
